Michele Tung from homeD will be joining Stephen Hynes of Hynes Developments, and Mukhtar Latif, former Vancouver Chief Housing Officer and current head of Pomegranate Housing Consultancy. They will be speaking at the Burrard Room on November 21 at 10:15 am in a session titled "Meeting Provincial Housing Goals: Practical Market-Based Approaches."
This session will offer some novel ideas on addressing the affordable housing crisis in the Province. The presenters will explore solutions from three critical angles - private development, public policy leadership, and modular housing.
Hynes will provide insights from the private developer's viewpoint, highlighting the role of market forces and private sector innovation in creating affordable housing solutions. Meanwhile, Latif, with his non-profit and private sector experience in housing in the UK and as the former Chief Housing Officer in the City of Vancouver, will offer a perspective grounded in public policy and practical implementation. Tung will share homeD's innovative approach in modular housing, demonstrating how these high-performance homes can contribute to solving the housing supply and affordability problems we face today.
